Little Miss’s first trip to the zoo!

We are really lucky that there is a little zoo not too far from us, called Hamerton Wildlife Park. We have been there loads in the past with Monkey, but the last time I went was when I was pregnant with LM, and she was yet to go. She loves animals though and getting out so it was time. We arranged to meet some friends there and headed off.

It was a beautiful day and LM loved running about everywhere and was so excited by seeing all the animals… Though I am pretty sure she wanted to cuddle the wallabies and lemurs!PhotoGrid_1460378460427

There are so many gorgeous animals there and many of them are rescue animals, which makes it much easier to see them caged. Monkey loved a very er “friendly” vulture and we got to see one of the tigers very close up which was amazing though also a bit sad to see him pacing.PhotoGrid_1460378777738

We had a lovely picnic lunch then both kiddies enjoyed a play on the fab playpark.PhotoGrid_1460378996569

We had another good wander after lunch to see some more animals and met this fabulous owl. He really took me by surprise when I turned and saw these beautiful eyes staring at me.PhotoGrid_1460380509192

We had such a wonderful day enjoying the sun and having fun as a family and with our friends.PhotoGrid_1460379559365

  1. We love the Zoo! My daughter has been a few times but mostly when we’ve been on holiday. Our local zoo is Marwell which is pretty good. We loved the Isle of Wight zoo too, that was great fun, Blackpool Zoo was a great hit last year and I think we are off to London Zoo this summer! Great pictures, I love the owl (big fan of owls haha) it looks like you had a great time. #bestandworst

  2. We visited Hamerton before I went back to work, it was a freezing day but we had such a fab time. We were supposed to be going today for E’s birthday but the weather was so miserable that we decided against it. It’s great that it’s so near to us. Thanks for linking up! #bestandworst

  3. Our local zoo is Bristol and the children love it. Plenty of school trips there, as well as family trips. The owl is beautiful, and I should imagine it was a surprise. I wonder if it knows it has that effect on visitors and lines up on purpose for attention. #CountryKids

  4. It certainly looks like you all had a great day out exploring the zoo, it’s always a firm favourite of kids. It’s great that LM really enjoyed her trip to the zoo, I bet she can’t wait to go and meet the animals again, It’s great that the animals are all rescued, it does make you feel slightly better about them being in an enclosure. Thanks for linking up with me on #CountryKids.

  5. We adore the zoo. It really looks like LM loved her first time at the zoo. It’s such a fun day out isn’t it! Evie just turned 2 and we took her back to the zoo and really noticed the difference in how much she interacted with the animals. They’re always the perfect day out. Thank you so much for sharing with #whatevertheweather x

  6. Love the pictures, I think mine are more obsessed with the farm but we definitely visit our zoo once a week. Cute that she loved the vulture, mine take a shining to weird things like turkeys. Different strokes for different folks I guess! #bestandworst

  7. Fab photos as always! It looks like you had a really great time and with good weather again too! Love LM’s little march in the photos, she looks so happy and confident being outdoors and with animals, I can’t believe how grown-up she’s looking now. Love the photo of the owl’s eyes too, the colour is fantastic! Thanks so much for liking up to #Whatevertheweather 🙂 x
