Summer Goals with #GetGoodSummer

I don’t know about you but we always have a long list of jobs that need sorting. Some are things we get excited about so they get ticked off quickly, others are less urgent, and less interesting so hang around on that list for a long, long time. With our baby girl arriving in November, and with a bit more energy now I am in the 2nd Trimester, I am keen to get a lot of jobs ticked off asap. I know that when I get really big, and then when the baby is here, the list will be pushed away almost entirely for a while, so we have a window of opportunity to get some things done.

Our current jobs list

Last week I read a post from Claire at Clarina’s Contemplations, all about #GetGoodSummer. The idea is that you have 10 weeks over the summer to complete 5 personal goals. They can be anything you like and it sounds like they had a really good spread of tasks and achievements last year!

I thought this fit perfectly with our current push to get things sorted around the house, and hopefully having some summer goals in mind may help motivate us at times when enthusiasm starts to lag.

Our #GetGoodSummer goals:

  1. Clear out the baby room. It is currently a junk room and hasn’t even got any flooring. Before we can decorate and put flooring down, we actually need to clear it and find homes for all of the junk in there.

    the 'baby room' right now

    the ‘baby room’ right now

  2. Decorate the baby room – this includes having the ceiling plastered, deciding how we actually want it to look, (you can check out my pinterest board to see some of my inspiration for this) and then actually doing the decorating!
  3. Solve the problem with the flat lease. I still own the flat I used to live in before I met hubby, and we have tenants in there at the moment. I would love to sell it so it would be one less thing to worry about, but in order to sell it we need to renew the lease, which could cost thousands (which hopefully can be added to the mortgage). We keep putting off this job as it won’t be fun, but it really does need to be done before the situation gets any worse, and I really want to get this sorted before baby arrives as it will never get done then!
  4. Arrange to see Friends and Family who live further away. With my SPD we aren’t sure how mobile I will be by the end of my pregnancy and travel will likely be less comfortable. Then when baby arrives, I know we will be fully wrapped up in life with a baby and so it is really important to me to see and visit people that we don’t get to see quite so often… before we are basically unable to!
  5. Get Organised. This is a little vaguer but there are lots of things it encompasses. The kitchen cupboards need a good organise before they can get filled with baby paraphernalia. There is lots of paperwork that needs organising and filing properly. There is a load of stuff in the garage that needs organising, and all of the baby stuff in the loft needs to come down and be organised.

So we need to get cracking! I shall be blogging about our progress and linking up over at Clarina’s Contemplations. Do you have some things you’d love to get done this summer? Why not join in with #GetGoodSummer?

    • Thank you, I think we’ll need it, it’s one thing writing them done, another thing actually getting them done! xx

    • Thank you, I hope so with a bit of determination! Ooh thanks, I love Pinterest for things like this! Great for gathering ideas! xx

  1. I love to have a goal to work towards, nothing better than a list and ticking things off to feel good about things. I hope you achieve your goals #whatsthestory

    • I am totally with you, we always have a list in the go, hoping this will help motivate us to get some of them ticked off! xx

  2. Oh wow those are some impressive goals – I think mine will probably start with ‘have baby’ or possibly ‘finish blanket before baby’ and we’ll see how we go from there!

  3. Ah, its great to have your goals clear in your mind. I started off this year with every intention of having the most organised and productive year ever but that’s all fallen a bit by the wayside! I guess I’m a creature of habit… X #whatsthestory

    • I know what you mean, it’s difficult to get motivated and stay motivated – I am hoping #getgoodsummer will help with that! xx

  4. I LOVE STUFF LIKE THIS!! I need to think what mine would be. I recon for your last one you might be cheating a bit! That’s got to be about 10 things packed into one. I know because I live it everyday. The to-do list’s “Get organised” covers everything from sorting out my wardrobe to planning next weeks food to attacking the dreaded paperwork pile. They all suck and they all take ages! But with urgency on your side, I think you’re going to do really well πŸ™‚ #allaboutyou xxx

    • Haha ooh yes, e great if you can join in! haha I know it’s a total cheat, I really struggled with the 5th one as the other things on our to do list are either massive, or tiny. Get organised encompasses a lot of small things but hopefully they will make me feel better over all! Thank you, I hope we can make some good progress over the next 10 weeks! xx

  5. Ooh lots of things to keep you busy on that list. I hope you’re feeling a bit more energetic (so to speak!) now. Makes such a difference. Look forward to hearing how you get on with this #whatsthestory

  6. Great idea! Lots to keep you busy with here that’s for sure but a great way to make use of that second trimester energy πŸ™‚
Sorry your suffering with spd that’s no fun πŸ™ xx

  7. Oh the 2nd trimester bliss! Welcome hunny. You will get so much done in your second trimester. I did that with MM I literally made a list and for about two months I went mad accomplishing it all and crossing it off because you are RIGHT you won’t get it done ever after the baby is here. Hahahaa I still have a few things that never got done and now a year later trying to get back to that list. lol Its nesting time too so it’s great to get the goals set up. I am so happy for you and so excited to welcome another amazing baby to your family and blog. Can’t wait to read about her!!! πŸ˜‰ Thanks for linking up to Share With Me. #sharewithme

    • Thanks honey, I really I hope I do get loads done as I know I won’t afterwards! Haha good luck with your list, maybe one day soon you will manage to get back to it! πŸ™‚ xx

  8. I love the idea of mid-year resolutions, and yours sound nice and practical – good luck, looks like you have your work cut out with all the house/flat stuff! I hope that you’re able to add “find a bit of me-time” to that list to look after yourself and bump! Thanks for linking to #AllAboutYou

  9. Good luck with your goals! The OCD part of me thinks it sounds like a brilliant opportunity as I love it when you finally get a space cleared and sorted…how much nicer is it going to be filled with lovely baby things?! Looking forward to reading about your progress πŸ™‚ #getgoodsummer

    • Thank you, I am totally with you on that, at the moment the door is closed all the time as I can;t bear to look in there, I will be very glad when it is a nice, neat and tidy little room! xx

  10. Good luck with all these! Lots of organising and sorting…good on you. I’m joining in this year as well – it’s such a great idea – but I’m worried about it going the same way as New Year’s Resolutions!

    • Thank you, oh I really know what you mean, but i am hoping with the team spirit of us all blogging about it together will help keep me on track! πŸ™‚ xx
