32 weeks pregnant – starting to feel real!

I am 32 weeks pregnant and it is all starting to feel pretty real now. Bump is getting bigger by the day, and I am getting slower!

WP_20140907_14_05_11_ProSlightly random bump shot but this is a shot of my wonky bump when I am lying down. Because baba is very much stuck in the left side of my Bicornuate Uterus, she is now pretty visible from certain angles and no mistaking her position. She is breech. She tries to turn and I get mental kicks sometimes but the best she manages is to lie transverse (across my lower tummy). She seems completely unable to get her head into my pelvis.

There is still time but with her getting bigger by the day it will only get harder and I guess therefore, probably less likely. We have an appointment with the consultant at 35 weeks to check and a decision (and probably C-Section booking) will be made then. I would have liked to try for a VBaC but there is also positives to having a C-Section so what will be will be. If we do have to go down that route then she could be here in a little over 6 weeks…. which really isn’t long!

We had a busy weekend sorting things out in her room. We built Monkey a new big boy chest of drawers which looks lovely in his room, so that the tall boy matching the cot and changing table could go into the baby room for baba to use. We have also built the cot and the nursing chair so it is really looking like a baby room now!

We also bought a lampshade and curtian rail, and the curtains our sister in law gave us are now up. They are gorgeous curtains and it looks lovely in there, I don’t think we would have gone for pink curtains if we were buying them, but they are gorgeous and we are not about to look a gift horse in the mouth! I guess I am just worry in case she turns out to be a he, the ultrasound tech was pretty definite but I won’t fully believe it until she is here I don’t think!

We still need to get the wall stickers up on the wall and there is a lot of things to sort out yet, but we are starting to get somewhere and it really is a bit nerve wracking now it is getting closer. I have started to pack the hospital bag too and that is making it feel really real.

I know people have more than one child all the time and I am sure we will find our way and manage, but I am nervous about how we will get on with a toddler and a baby at the same time. There is C-section recovery to think about, wondering how I will manage with breastfeeding this time round, how I will deal with feeding a baby while also looking after a very active toddler and keeping him entertained! I won’t know the answers to any of these questions until she is here and so I know there is little point worrying… but I guess packing breast pads and teeny nappies things makes me think about the reality of having a newborn again! Eek!!

  1. Oh, it’s all feeling real now! When I was pregnant with Little Man, it actually didn’t seem real until he arrived, partly because of my pregnancy complications, I think, and partly because I was all too busy concentrating on Boo still. But you will manage, I assure you, and it can all be juggled. And hope that you get a sleepy baby! xx

    • I can totally understand that! Thank you, I know you’re right, it just seems like such a daunting prospect at the moment though! A sleepy baby would be amazing lol! xx

  2. I remember thinking all the same things about having a second baby and a toddler and that’s probably why I decided to fork out for NCT refresher classes. I also bought a book called The Second Baby Survival Guide by Naia Edwards which is good to refer to. It all just falls into place once new routines are established but I do remember having one particularly fraught evening on my own with the two of them where, after what must have been a pretty desperate sounding Facebook status a good friend appeared on my doorstep to help in my hour of need! You are lucky you have lots of family around – sometimes all you need is an extra pair of hands!! X

    • Aww sounds like you have a lovely helpful friend there! Glad to hear I am not the only mumma who has these worries, I am sure routines will help, it’s just the getting there! I have been recommended a similar book which I have dipped into and seems good for common sense advice – I will definitely be referring to that when I am struggling!! xx

  3. Wow I am totally feeling your nervousness with you and I think it is great that you are talking about it. Someone once told me that toddlers have the ability to sense when they need to calm down, so you may find that your little guy naturally takes his cues and is quiet and relaxed around the baby, especially if you recovering.

My husband was working away from home and I was alone watching my toddler with a 7 day fever and pneumonia. Honestly, I don’t know how I did it, I was practically asleep 20 hours a day, and he was such a good kid. He spent the week playing by himself and taking it easy (normally this kid thinks he is Donald Duck on steroids).

Like you said lots of women have two kids and you should trust that you will make it through this, and hopefully you get some help when you need it. And don’t forget once its over its over, and time flies!

    • Thank you and I very much hope you’re right! That must have been such a hard time for you and sounds like he was amazing! You’re totally right and time does fly, so i am sure we will manage, I am just really apprehensive about it! xx

  4. Oh Caroline 🙂 this is lovely and you will be amazing at being mum to two I’m sure! I love how organised you are, room ready, bag packed, even in organising your worries! I’m sure dealing with them now means you’ll be as cool as a cucumber when the time comes.

    • haha thanks Hannah, I am feeling calmer at the moment but I am sure I will panic again before she arrives 🙂 I do like to try and be organised though! xx

  5. When your pregnant the first time you can really indulge yourself – have naps and put your feet up whenever you want. It’s not quite the same the second time is it?
I know what you mean, I was worried about all that stuff too but the second baby just somehow fits in. My second baby was much calmer and was happy to sit and watch her big sister most of the time. Bless her!

Good luck with the next few weeks xx

    • Oh it is really not like that second time around! just nowhere near the time to indulge yourself! Ooh well that is good to hear, hopefully ours will be the same! :S xx

  6. My last baby was transverse and the only day she actually went head down was on the day of the scan to see if I would need a c-section! She soon moved back, little perisher. I hope your little lady moves into the right place for you (and stays there) X

  7. I hope your little one turns for you, just read about the shape, how interesting. I’ve learnt something new today. I had my second when my biggest had just turned a very active 3 year old. I was really worried about it before, but the baby just kind of slots in. It helped that it was near (ish) christmas time and then toddler was really into polar express! We watched that a lot especially during the bf growth spurts 🙂 x

    • Glad to hear it worked out so well for you, I am very much hoping it goes so easily for us! I have to admit I am encouraging the watching of some disney films at the moment in the hope that when baby is here we can have some quiet times in front of the tv… fingers crossed!! 🙂 xx

  8. Packing the hospital bag and getting the baby’s nursery ready are such big milestones, and so exciting! I can relate to the whole worrying about coping with two thing. Although my daughter’s four and will be at school, I’m also aware of the need to make her feel part of it all and not left out. As time’s gone on I’ve become less panicked about it all though and now just feel excited. Must be the hormones! x

    • Ooh that’s good, i hope I lose the fear and just get excited too soon! I am sure we will both manage absolutely fine! Eek! xx

  9. Oh exciting times! And very organised of you to have the room ready. The shape of baby bump looks similar to the photo you’ve posted if I sit down for too long. My midwife tells me it is his bum sticking out. It looks really odd at times but still nice to be able to feel a part of the baby :-). I was told that I am carrying a boy but the sonographer said ‘she’ once while he was doing the scan, and that has stuck with me throughout my pregnancy to a point where pretty much everything is unisex (besides a few items that I purchased in the last week). I wish you all the best and I look forward to seeing the wall stickers you choose for the baby’s room when you are ready to get them up and share a photo. There are so many beautiful designs to choose from. Have fun! X

  10. Love the sneaky peak into your nursery. We’re the same with being paranoid about the gender! Sonographer was adament we’re having a girl but there is always something in the back of my mind wondering what if she turns out to be a he haha!

  11. Oh wow, that took me right back! I was looking recently at pics of the nursery as it was being redecorated to transform into the spare room, and the big room turned into the children’s shared bedroom. It all speeds to from here! Enjoy the journey and the lull – I just remember it fall feeling harder and yet easier in other ways than I remembered! Thanks for linking to All About You xx
