There is only one word that can really sum up my week! Tangfastics! I am obsessed with them, they are definitely my guilty pleasure at the moment!
I’ve always been a fan of our sweets but I hardly ever eat them (I have had more than enough work on my teeth over the years to put me off eating them frequently). However, the last couple of weeks they are almost all I can think about. At the time of writing, I have eaten 4 packs this week! It is seriously bonkers and I know I need to ration them, eating a tiny bit extra is one thing, 4 packs of sweets in less than a week is a whole other matter!!
After telling my friend she she is now convinced that it means I am having a baby girl, as even though she usually hates sour sweets, she had a huge craving for them when she was pregnant with her daughter. When I was pregnant with Monkey I didn’t really have any particular cravings. I had a few aversions, mainly to spicy food, but no real cravings. This time though, give me those tangfastics!
I wonder if it means something? I have googled pregnancy cravings and according to experts they have no relation whatsoever to the sex of your baby and are merely your body’s response to hormonal changes and nutritional requirements. I’m not sure what nutritional requirements 5 bags of tangfastics could possible be fulfilling!
There are so many old wives tales that suggest you can tell whether you are having a boy or a girl. Whether you are carrying high or low, whether your hair is shiny or dull, and of course what types of food you are craving! But there seems to be so much online debunking these theories that it is hard to tell if any of them have any relation to to reality, or if they really are a load of nonsense.
I’ve been in quite a bit of pain again this week – I have new exercises from my physio which should help in the long term, but which right now are really aggravating my SPD. So on Thursday afternoon, when my stash of tangfastics ran out, and my hip and pelvis were seriously hurting, I made my first “Pregnant Wife who’s in a lot of pain and really feeling sorry for herself” call to hubby to nip to the shop and get me some! I am glad he works so close! Naughty wife!
In other news though we had a lovely BBQ for my birthday at the weekend, lots of family and friends, and somehow the rain held off! As always with lots of people and toddlers it was a bit chaotic at times but overall a lot of fun. Nice that we had the garden ready for it too, although it was a shame we couldn’t walk on the turf!
What’s your Word of the Week? And did you have any pregnancy cravings? Have any stories of Old Wives’ tales that turned out to be true? I’d love to hear them!
I didn’t have any real cravings either time – just a massive aversion to the smell of freshly baked bread with JJ. Weird eh?! X #wotw
Lol that is funny, as it’s such a lovely smell! Pregnancy does weird things to us! xx
My big craving was ice Lolly’s not just any ice lollies Rockets I could go through 10 a night just munch my way through them (actually biting and chomping) since Elsie was born in October there have been 4/5 in the freezer that I’ve just not bothered with! X
Oh gosh, chomping on Ice lollies makes my tummy go funny, all that ice! Funny what pregnancy does to us eh? xx
I see that the garden is baptized =P
In my country it is believed that what you craved for will have great effect on your baby. Sometimes deformities are blamed on the food as well. I think its just really people are looking for things to blame.
Family gatherings are always fun. I miss doing this =) #pocolo
Lol, yup! Oh interesting, difficult but people always want something to blame don’t they? xx
I craved sugar with my daughter! lol, sugary drinks, sugary sweets etc… couldnt get enough of it! with my sons i craved whole hearty proper man meals… you could be having a little girly 🙂 #PoCoLo
Ooh interesting, we will see I guess! xx
Yes, yes, yes! I ate bags and bags of these when I was pregnant with Little Man (kind of crushing the girl myth!) as they really eased my morning sickness. Takes me back! Thanks for sharing with #WotW and enjoy those sweets!
Lol, I remember you saying that before actually! Does very much crush the girl myth haha they are so yummy though! xx
Oooh I love those sweets!! Looks like you had a lovely BBQ x #WotW
Thanks, we really did! xx
Ha that’s a brilliant pregnancy craving!! Mine was salt and vinegar crisps… And egg mayo sandwiches!
#PoCoLo
Ooh interesting, isn’t it funny what pregnancy makes us want? xx
I love a good Tangfastic! Yum! With all 3 of my kiddies I craved Prawn Cocktail crisps!! I could have, would have, eaten maybe 3 packets at bedtime!!!!
Your BBQ looks like a lot of fun! #PoCoLo
Lol I love them at the best of times, at least when you’re pregnant you feel you can occasionally give in to the cravings! xx
I don’t know about the cravings-both times I just had strong aversions to certain foods. In fact I still can’t eat leeks to this day! But as far as cravings go, tangfastics aren’t so bad I reckon, although 4 in a week is pretty impressive. Glad you had a lovely birthday too 🙂
Oh interesting, yeah I only had aversions really last time, I think I need to try and cut down my intake of tangfastics a little though, maybe 3 a week? 😉 Thank you 🙂 xx
Ice! And the smell of TCP.
Wierd!
That is weird! xx
Ha, this made me smile. I didn’t have many cravings, and being a vegetarian I can’t eat Haribo 🙂 With my eldest it was doughnuts and ice, with my second, just the ice I think… And with the wee girl it was ice (again!) and carrots… I had to start buying those party bags of ice so that I could sit and eat a whole glassful in the evenings, and the carrots I had to nip into shops to buy bags of ready to eat baby carrots at random intervals… I can see a post developing out of this now that I think about how desperate I was for carrots! Thanks so much for linking to #ThePrompt x
Oh yeah I always forget Haribo aren’t vegetarian, don’t like to think about it I guess! Lol, the ice makes me cringe, i hate biting on ice at the best of times, the carrots is amusing too! xx
I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but with my first I also craved tangfastics. I also ate loads, it was like scratching an itch that wouldn’t go away. I had a boy. With my second I craved Apple’s, and convinced myself it was a girl. It was another boy. I don’t think you can tell!
Lol I love it, I don’t really mind either way to be honest but it is funny and I kinda love proving the myths wrong! xx
I eat them when not pregnant too 😉 This time I’ve eaten sweet things still but last few weeks I’m not so bothered but the morning sickness has reappeared again at 30 weeks so maybe that’s why. I had girls both times before and ate a lot of sweets so maybe you are having a girl. Maybe I was having a girl and halfway through it’s decided to be a boy? #PoCoLo
Lol, who knows could be 😉 xx
Fab word! They’re yummy!!
I craved Roast parsnips and ice pops with my girls 🙂 x
Ooh yummy! Good cravings!
Ooohh I am getting weird sensation in my mouth just reading this and pulling that funny ‘sour’ face! I craved salt and vinegar square crisps when I was pregnant #WotW
Lol I know exactly what you mean! I get a similar feeling with salt and vinegar crisps though lol! xx
When I was pregnant with my first daughter I craved ice pops and went through boxes of them. When I was pregnant with my second daughter it was snickers and when I was pregnant with my youngest daughter I didn’t really crave anything. #ThePrompt
Ooh interesting! xx
Oh those craving:))what is great that u can send Hubby for ur cravings and don’t feel guilty!!hovewer I never see u eating sweats!!my cravings with max was tomatoes in any form…I could eat them all the time and drink tomato juice!!i had a boy .with Natalia it was more sour stuff … Oranges…ice lollies…sweets…u never know maybe little girl is there;)
Lol I know, I hardly ever eat them, but right now, oh my god I can’t stop! Interesting, haha who knows, we will have to wait and see! xx
My worst craving was for chicken, which soon ended my 15 years as a vegetarian! I’ve also craved ice cubes, raspberries and parma violets. I’ve had girls and boys and each pregnancy was different and no hint as to the sex. I think your bump just depends on how the baby is lying. Tangfastics are great but give me terrible indigestion!
Oh gosh that must have been hard as a veggie! Loving the other cravings though, and I think you’re right they are just coincidence if anything! x
At least you have a good excuse for eating 4 bags in a week!
I craved sausage rolls, ready salted crisps and diet coke with my first (incredibly unhealthy I know) and funnily enough they have been three of my sons favourite since he was little and now he’s 19!
wow, well at least it was diet coke 🙂 That is funny though, he obviously knew what he liked very early on! xx
oh wow those bad boy sweet make me cringe .. i am not a fan lol i craved weetabix and carrots with Beth and white chocolate with Joshua .. those cravings are a bugger! lol
thanks for linking up with #MagicMoments
Lol, I think they are a love/hate thing. Ooh interesting cravings and they really are a bugger, one of the joys of pregnancy! xx
Hmmm, I really fancy a bag of Tangfastic now! Haven’t had them in yonks! My pregnancy cravings were never strange – generally chocolate, especially Mars bars, and Hula Hoops. #WotW
Ooh go for it, they are so yummy! Lol, love those cravings, yum! 🙂 xx
Ooh yummy! I was going to say that I craved sweets when I was carrying Harry but if I’m honest I just craved food in general 😉 #WotW
hehe lol, nothing wrong with that! xx
Tricky craving. I feel your pain. I ate chocolate for every meal when I was pregnant. I craved sugar 24/7. I’d like to say it went away when the kids were born but the truth is it ruinned me for life. Sorry! #pocolo
Wow! That must have been a lot of chocolate lol, why not though eh 🙂 xx
