One of those weeks…

This week is just one of those weeks. You know the ones, where everything you touch seems to break or go wrong. I’m not down or miserable about it (miraculously) just a bit baffled and honestly, more and more things are happening! I get the feeling that because we were so lucky last week with the gorgeous weather on our holiday, Karma is biting us on  the bum as payback!!

So Sunday and Monday LM was really unsettled, just the change in coming home I guess, and my PMT was raging so I was not a happy bunny. Lots of stomping around from me about the fact she wouldn’t sleep for more than 40 mins at a time or eat any of the healthy purees I made for her. One of my strops resulted in me slamming the dishwasher shut and breaking the handle of one of our lovely Le Crueset Mugs 🙁 not a proud moment.

Tuesday she was better but the day seemed to be worse. It started innocuously enough. I was getting Monkey a cup of milk but somehow when putting the lid on his cup the whole thing slid out from under my hand, milk went everywhere and I somehow at the same time managed to knock one of the tupperwares containing our dinner from the freezer, onto the floor, smashing it to smithereens.

WP_20150428_18_35_36_ProLM woke after another short nap but I was determined not to let it get to me and so trying to be positive decided to take the kids to the baby clinic to get her weighed. we don’t normally get to this one as she is usually asleep but it’s nearer and I haven’t had her weighed in ages so I took the opportunity and off we went.  It was a bit windy so Monkey had a meltdown (he was overtired from a busy couple of days) about the wind but we carried on… only to find the clinic had been cancelled. So back we came. Total waste of time and to top it off I I skinned my knuckles somehow just opening the front door (not even sure how).

I’ve had a funny little lump/mole on my back for a few years and on my 2nd trip to the Drs about it as it kept growing (It was 4-5mm wide at one point and hard and rised) I was referred to the hospital. Tuesday was my appointment and I was told that it was basically a giant blackhead. Obviously a good thing it wasn’t anything serious but also pretty humiliating going to hospital to have a spot squeezed by a chuckling dermatologist.

I came home and was about to feed LM when the jar of food I was carrying came unattached from it’s lid, slid out of my fingers and smashed sending glass and orange baby food all over the floor. Joy!

By this point, thanks to the fact that LM was napping better, I actually started to see the funny side of it all. How can you not find discovering you have a giant blackhead on your back slightly amusing?

Anyway, Wednesday morning things were gtting better I thought, and I was doing some cleaning. When our steamer snapped in two. Honestly you can’t make this stuff up!

I told hubs and he had some more news for me… there was an error in the payment run at work which meant his wages werent going to get paid until Friday, the 1st. Um what?? Cue hubs ranting at his boss and me scrabbling around to transfer savings into our account to cover our mortgage payment and everything else that comes out on the 1st of the month! We’ve always hated the company policy of paying wages on the last day of the month anyway and this is pretty much why!

None of these things are that bad, they are a pain and irritating and just the sheer quantity of them all happening at the same time is what gets me. Barmy, makes me want to hide under my duvet.

My word of the week, is sigh.

  1. Oh Caroline this is such an awful but hilarious post. The blackhead point is definitely the low point. I love your posts as you are so like me getting all arsey and slamming things around. I do it ALL the time. I hope this little stream of bad luck is out of the way! xx #wickedwednesdays

    • haha thanks hon, good to know I am not alone, I feel so juvenile sometimes but can’t stop it either – not the best role model lol xx

  2. This is funny but not funny! I’ve been there so many times and sometimes it’s the small niggly things that can irritate you the most. Thank you for the smile first thing in the morning 🙂

  3. Blimey you don’t do things by halves do you?! If it’s any consolation I have been there with the back blackhead – I always knew what it was though and it seems to have become a project for any partner I’ve ever had! I think sleep deprivation and pmt have a lot to answer for!! The only way is up right?! Xx

  4. Oh dear, It does seem one thing after another – glad it hasn’t got to you though! That container is really smashed isn’t it, who’d’ve thought it would do that? #wotw

  5. Why does it always seem to go this way. Hopefully though, on the positive side, next week can only be better?! I’ve smashed plastic like that before, and shut my finger in the dishwasher..actually I’ve had many weeks fairly similar to yours. Lets hope this long weekend is calmer 🙂 x

  6. This always seems to happen, doesn’t it? Why rain when it can pour?! I do hope next week’s better for you and I’m glad you had moments of seeing the funny side, too – not easy to do! Thanks for sharing with #WotW x

  7. just discovering your blog through #WOTW and sorry to hear about your misadventures this week, hopefully the next one will be better! I agree, taken in isolation they are all fine but all coming together makes it a bit much. Hope you have a good weekend.
