Riding the escalators

A couple of weeks ago we were in our local shopping centre, looking for some new shoes for Daddy (no mean feat when you are a size 12) and Monkey was very interested in the escalators. Because we generally have the buggy with us, for the most part we use lifts instead of escalators, and honestly Monkey has not shown that much interest in them before.

On this particular day though he was fascinated by them. As we had gone early in the morning on a Sunday and not all the shops were open yet (some open at 10, others 10.30) and had a little time to kill I stayed downstairs while he and Daddy rode the escalators a few times.

He was so excited it was adorable really and lovely to watch, he gave me a big wave on the way down hehe.

I love it when little ones discover something ‘new’ that we take for granted. Seeing the world through their eyes can be so magical!

  1. Ah! My two love escalators and they also love lifts – particularly those glass elevator types that you get in shopping centres. The downside is that you then have to wait *forever* to get in one and you don’t even have a buggy anymore? Not good!! 🙂 X

    • haha bless them, glass lifts are fab though aren’t they and I can see why they love them – though I imagine it does lengthen your trip a bit! xx

  2. What a lovely moment to capture. Like you say all those everyday things we take for granted seeing the world through a child’s eyes and rediscovering the simplest of things is amazing. We also have an escalator fan in our house she loves riding them. x

    • haha it’s lovely to just let them enjoy the simple pleasures sometimes isn’t it? I am sure they day will come when they are not interested anymore! xx

  3. That’s Kitty’s favourite thing to do when we’re out as a family of four and Daddy can take her up and down the escalators – now that we’re just starting to venture out without a buggy and both girls get to have a go – well you’d think Christmas had come early!

  4. So beautifully put – seeing the world anew through your children’s eyes is one of the biggest joys of motherhood. And escalators, what’s not to love?!

  5. So so cute! And it’s true, one of the best things about being a parent is about seeing the world through their eyes- seeing the wonder and awe over something that we take for granted. It’s just lovely to watch their innocence. x

Thanks for taking the time to write something. I love comments and read every one xx
