From time to time I read some great posts from Mums who are quite honestly, far, far more organised than I am, who share their lovely changing bags. They are pristine and organised and kept well stocked. I am a little in awe of these Mums as I doubt they ever manage to go out without nappies (has happened more than once as I haven’t realised I have run out and can’t remember when I last checked) or are ever greeted by this sight when they open their changing bag.
So, no, sadly I am not one of those Mums, and this isn’t going to be one of those posts! I am more likely to randomly chuck in a few nappies and every now and again. Occasionally I decide to brave taking out all the random stuff that is in there and have a good sort out in the hope I will be more organised next time (let’s face it, never gona happen). This is what I did this week, and this is what I found in my changing bag.
Half a rice cake, covered in sand and bizarrely squished into a suncream lid – yummy.
Some pine cones which were a ‘present’ from Monkey.
A piece of elastic we randomly found Monkey playing with and decided to remove from his possession.
Some of LM’s favourite things to play with, including a bit of dried grass (yup, honestly, playing with a blade of grass makes her deliriously happy), a frog castanet, the hose from a duplo fire engine (she LOVES it) and a rattly whistle thing (that actually contains a sweet but shhh our kids haven’t worked that out yet).
Thousands of bits of broken biscuit.
Random items of ‘spare’ clothing completely coated in the above broken biscuits and crumbs.
Ooh, result, a slightly squished but still sealed mini mars bar. Yum!
A few random nappies that have been squished and mangled so badly that at first glance I am not 100% sure if they are used or not.
It was a good job jobbed, and right now my changing bag is much more organised… but I know in my heart that it won’t last very long!!
What’s in your changing bag? I would love to know if you are reading this in horror or completely relate to my lack or organisation!
Love this because it’s just like my changing bag was! We now have two little back packs and my handbag but I still collect random stuff in my handbag. And every now and then need a clear our! #maternitymondays xx
I am afraid to admit that I am very much able to relate to your bag contents! I periodically have a clear out, tidy up and get organised then within a day I have returned to my more familiar rummage through left over snacks and random confiscated items! Thankyou for hosting #maternitymondays Have a great week!
Hahaaa this is like my handbag and I have been known to just change my entire bag 🙂 I forever have sweets or some kind of food at the bottom of mine!
Haha this made me laugh, I’m pretty sure everyone has random rubbish lurking in the bottom of their changing bag! I gave mine a good clear out before Parker arrived and found some strange things! Xx
While Quinn is still only a few weeks old I can enjoy a clean, organised bag! As she’s breastfed and can’t hold anything, it contains, nappies, disposable nappy liners, wipes, nappy balm, travel change mat, a vest and a sleepsuit, soother in sterile box, and a muslin… I am one of “those” Mums… for now! We’ll be on rice cakes soon!
haha this made me giggle. It sound like my handbag at the end of the day. I do empty it daily though because it’s white (why as a mum I decided to get a white handbag i do not know) and it gets dirty really easily. There is normally some kind of sand covered rice cake in there too. It’s nice to see a true, honest account of a changing bag. 😀 xx #maternitymondays
Oh I’m glad it’s not just me!!!!! I cleared it out once when my friend looked after Bean and took my bag, so much crap I’m there!!! Chucked it all into a carrier bag and threw it in the cupboard under the stairs…. It may still be there with numerous other “crap bags”!!
Fab post and hilariously honest xx
#MaternityMondays
Mines full of crumbs!
But score on the Mars bar!!!! X
Oh wow, our nappy bag is pretty organised compared to this. I did, however, find a used breast pad once that I’d forgotten I stuffed in there when I couldn’t find a bin. I won’t go into details but it was gross! 🙂 #MaternityMondays
Are you sure you didn’t nick my baby bag? hahaha very similar squishy, crumby and sticky contents lol x
The ricecake in the lid made me laugh – that’s exactly the sort of thing I find in my bag – along with the billions of biscuit crumbs and a hundred and one receipts.
Oh my, this is my life! I had a little (insert BIG) clear out of my change bag before Tin Box Baby was born and found so much smelly sticky stuff at the bottom that it took a lot of anti-bacterial wipes to sort it out. Yuck! #MaternityMondays
Mine is exactly the same. Crumby, sun cream lids, manky wipes! It is gross. I will be so glad to get rid of it (not for grown up littlies) but just because it is so ming. I think those perfect ones are just for show and don’t exist haha xx #maternitymondays
I have to admit I’m probably one of ‘those’ mums lol. My changing bag is usually very well stocked and neatly packed when possible all in there proper places but then I’m a little bit anal about things like that. However, no changing bag is complete without a few crumbs here and there and mine is no exception! Love this post, may have to do this on my blog! 🙂

I unpack Gwenn’s bag every night and re-pack it so it’s always mega organised! I’m like that with my own bag and purse too. It keeps me sane. I think I like to impose order on certain things because the world is generally such a chaotic place. x
#thetruthabout
I’m one of those people who try to stay organised and on top of things but I have gone out and forgotten the bag before. Whether I stay organised time will tell but if I don’t your bag looks far more fun and interesting.
I don’t have a changing bag any more (hurrah!) but this was totally me. I would have to add a two-pence piece with a raisin embedded onto it to the mix though 🙂 Xx #thetruthabout
Mums with pristine changing bags? They put it on for the camera. The number of times I went out without nappies for the youngest (she is now potty trained). I did it all the time. And the changing bag would always be gull of discarded raisins / old tissues etc. #thetruthabout
Haha, now that’s a real changing bag! The bag I take to the beach looks a bit like your bag, except it’s also got tons of sand in, he he! #TheTruthAbout
Lots of randomness #wickedwednesdays
ha ha ha mine is 100 times worse dont worry! same with the rice cakes everywhere lol!
Lmao. Wow you sure make good use out of your changing bag.xx
hehehe! That is so real! Love it!
My changing bags used to be just as bad….lol
Haha! That is my changing bag, my handbag, the bottom of the pushchair, the boot of the car!!! I am no longer feeling bad about it 🙂 I am not alone! xx
The bit about the nappies that are so crumpled that you don’t know for definite that I’m there. Ahhh, that’s my life right there.
My changing bag consists of squashed raisins, toy trains and bits of reciept. Once found a fiver in there, danced the whole way to the coffee shop!
The things that we find inside our bags are scary isnt it? I havent seen the bottom of my bag in years now hehe. #wickedwednesdays
Haha this is brilliant! I always say “this time I’m keeping in nice and tidy” it never happens though 🙂 x #WickedWednesdays
EVERY BAG I owned used to have half a smushed rice cake. VOM! Thanks so much for linking up and I hope to see you at this weeks Wicked Wednesdays! x
